Leicester City goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel praises manager Brendan Rodgers after the club took another step closer to securing Champions League football next season.

Leicester City goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel has said that manager Brendan Rodgers has restored the team's identity, as the Foxes took a step closer to securing Champions League football next season.

Rodgers arrived at the King Power stadium in 2019, when Leicester sat 11th in the Premier League, and he helped them climb up the table, eventually just missing out on a top-four spot on the final day of the season.

The Foxes and Rodgers have continued in the hunt for Champions League football this season and currently sit third in the table, seven points clear of West Ham United in fifth with five games to play.

Schmeichel is one of the few remaining players who won the Premier League with the club in 2016 and told Sky Sports News the impact Rodgers has made on the squad: "Brendan's come in and done wonders for us, I think he's the absolute perfect manager for us at the perfect time. He came in when we needed an identity, we needed to find our feet. Who were we after this amazing title win?

"We'd kind of been in-between a counter-attacking team and a possession team. We didn't quite know exactly what we were, and he's just given us a clear identity. He's been so clear in his messages and how he wants us to play.

"And it was exactly what we needed, so I can't praise him enough for the job he's done and is doing and hopefully for many years to come."

Fresh in the minds of the Leicester squad will be the disappointment of missing out on a Champions League spot last season, as they look to go one better this year.
