Everton manager Frank Lampard confirms that Yerry Mina's injury will keep him out of action until April.

Everton manager Frank Lampard has confirmed that Yerry Mina will be sidelined until April.

The Colombian international had to be substituted in the first half of Everton's most recent outing against Newcastle United, which saw the Toffees defeated 3-1.

The 27-year-old has suffered a couple of fitness issues this season, having only made 10 appearances in the Premier League across the campaign because of that.

"Yerry Mina has an unfortunate injury which will be probably between eight to 10 weeks, It is a strong injury around his quad. It is disappointing for us all," Lampard told the press.

"In the week I have been here I have realised he's a big leader in the group and a top player obviously for us, so a big miss. I was aware on the night that our medical team, who in the short term here have been great and really on point, were wary of the type of injury straight away.

"Just from Yerry's description of what he felt, so we were aware straight away and obviously our worst fears were confirmed a day or so later in terms of being out for a while."

Everton will be in action again on Saturday when they face Leeds United in the Premier League.
