England midfielder James Milner is rated as the fifth best player at Euro 2016 by a UEFA ranking tool.

England midfielder James Milner has been rated as the fifth best player at Euro 2016 according to a UEFA rankings tool.

European football's governing body released the list, which ranks players on form for club and country since the turn of the year, in the build-up to this summer's tournament in France.

Real Madrid and Portugal forward Cristiano Ronaldo leads the way, with Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Antoine Griezmann and Dimitri Payet also coming in above Milner.

Milner is England's only representative in the top 10, with Dele Alli the next highest in 15th, while Wales winger Gareth Bale sits 12th.

"The barometer runs official player statistics through a specially designed algorithm to create rankings based on player performances," said UEFA.

"The data considered for each player is specific to the position type. For example, tackles and interceptions are considered to be key statistics for defensive midfielders, while successful dribbles and crosses are core stats for wingers."

Harry Kane, Jamie Vardy, Eric Dier, Ryan Bertrand and Adam Lallana all make the top 50, while Danny Drinkwater, who failed to make the cut for Roy Hodgson's squad, is rated as the eighth-best Englishman.

England's newest player Marcus Rashford comes in at 93rd on the list, four places better off than his club and international captain Wayne Rooney.
