Slovakia manager Jan Kozak admits that he was "surprised" by England's team selection for their friendly against Portugal.

Slovakia head coach Jan Kozak has admitted that he was "surprised" by the team England fielded for their friendly against Portugal at Wembley on Thursday.

Wayne Rooney, Harry Kane and Jamie Vardy all started together for the first time in England's last Euro 2016 warm-up game, but they failed to click as the Three Lions edged to a late 1-0 win over their 10-man opponents.

Roy Hodgson said before the match that the time for experimenting was over, but Kozak believes that the team which lines up against Russia in England's Euro 2016 opener on June 11 will be different.

"I myself watched the match yesterday. It was just a preparatory match. I was also surprised for the lineup. Due to the exclusion of the Portuguese player, the match was quite uniform, but in the end the English team scored, were patient and it was okay," he told reporters.

"I'm convinced that, considering this lineup, the English are not going to use this lineup in the first match. They have got their usual way of playing and this has just been a test.

"Each team has got its weaknesses, however there is quite a number of young English players in the team so let's see how they cope with the pressure of the public, the pressure of expectations, the pressure of the media. There are experienced players in the team, however, most of them are quite young."

Slovakia, who face England in their final group game on June 20, will take on Northern Ireland in their last warm-up match on Saturday.
