homas Tuchel praises Jorginho for showing the 'courage' required to equalise for Chelsea against Manchester United after his mistake had earlier cost his team a goal.

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has praised Jorginho for how he reacted to making the mistake for Manchester United's opening goal on Sunday afternoon.

The Italian failed to control a high clearance, allowing for Jadon Sancho to surge clear on goal and slot the ball past goalkeeper Edouard Mendy.

However, Jorginho took his opportunity to make amends, firing a confident penalty into the bottom corner to ultimately earn the Blues a deserved point.

Jorginho had missed a crucial spot kick for his country earlier this month, and Tuchel was quick to praise his player for reacting positively at Stamford Bridge.

At his post-match press conference, the German told reporters: "It's unusual a mistake like this, for us to concede a goal in general. Jorgi misjudged the situation and was heavily disturbed from the lights because he didn't see the ball in the end.

"It shows courage to take the penalty for the equaliser in a crucial moment. I am very happy."

Tuchel added that he had been left delighted with his side's performance, regardless of Chelsea seeing their lead at the top of the Premier League table reduced to one point.
