Wales forward Gareth Bale says that the 3-0 win over Russia was the national team's best performance since he broke into it.

Gareth Bale has expressed his delight after Wales secured the top spot in Group B at Euro 2016 with a 3-0 win over Russia.

The Real Madrid star, who scored his third goal of the tournament during the game, revealed that the performance was the best he has featured in for his country.

"We knew everything was on this game, it was in our own hands. We said before the game 'let's have no regrets'," BBC Sport quotes Bale as saying.

"It's probably the best performance I've been involved in with Wales. We started very well, we didn't feel too nervous. We want to thank the fans out here and at home.

"To top the group, what more can you ask? We said we didn't want to make the numbers up. Well, we can't do any more than win the group. We look forward to seeing who we play next."

Aaron Ramsey and Neil Taylor were also on target for Wales during their victory over Russia, who finished bottom of Group B.
