Henrik Stenson comes out on top at the BMW International Open, despite stuttering on the final day at the Golf Club Gut Laerchenhof.

Henrik Stenson has claimed a three-shot win at the BMW International Open after holding off the chasing pack on the final day of play.

The 40-year-old struggled in the final round, carding his lowest score of 71, although he had done enough in his rescheduled third round to come out on top.

Stenson returned to the Golf Club Gut Laerchenhof on Sunday morning to card a round-three score of 67, having seen play cut short on Saturday due to poor weather conditions.

Three birdies in the last six holes put Stenson into the outright lead, before another birdie saw him start his final round in a similar style.

Four dropped shots would follow, however, leaving the door open for others to overtake at the summit, but Stenson did finally get over the line with a par at the last on a day when his rivals also stuttered at times.

Thorbjorn Olesen and Darren Fichardt finished on 14-under par overall to earn a tie for second, while Raphael Jacquelin slipped away following a positive start to end in fourth.
