Wales midfielder Aaron Ramsey admits that he and his teammates were delighted with their performance in their 3-0 victory over Russia at Euro 2016.

Wales midfielder Aaron Ramsey has acknowledged that he and his teammates were driven to produce a positive reaction to their defeat to England when they faced Russia on Monday night.

Last week, Wales conceded a last-minute goal to lose 2-1 to the Three Lions but on Monday night, they produced one of the best performances of the tournament as they thrashed Russia 3-0 to finish top of Group B.

Ramsey netted the opening goal in Toulouse and he has said that his side were unfortunate not to score more goals during a dominant display.

The 25-year-old told reporters: "We wanted to stand up and be recognised for the hard work that we put in, especially defensively. Against England, that was our only criticism that the occasion maybe got to us in possession.

"Tonight, that's the thing that we wanted to work on the most and I thought that we passed it tremendously well. We could have scored more in the end but overall, fantastic performance and we are top of the group which is probably something no-one saw coming."

Wales return to action in the Euro 2016 knockout stages on Saturday evening.
