Burnley are reportedly preparing an offer for Nottingham Forest striker Britt Assombalonga ahead of next season.

Burnley have reportedly identified Nottingham Forest striker Britt Assombalonga as a potential transfer target.

Last season, Assombalonga netted 14 goals from 32 appearances in the Championship to maintain his reputation as one of the best forwards outside of the top flight, but it appears that he may get his move to the Premier League this summer.

According to The Mirror, Clarets boss Sean Dyche is ready to try to sign the 24-year-old as a replacement for Andre Gray.

The attacker has just 12 months remaining on his existing contract at Turf Moor and with an extension looking unlikely, he has been linked with Everton.

The sale of Gray is expected to fetch £10m, but Burnley may have to pay more than that figure in order to complete the signing of Assombalonga.

Middlesbrough are also said to hold an interest in the forward, but he is likely to prefer to move into the top flight if he is to leave the City Ground.
