A report claims that Middlesbrough midfielder Marten de Roon is a target for Manchester United, who are willing to pay £8.8m for his services.

Manchester United have reportedly shown an interest in signing Marten de Roon from Middlesbrough due to his small transfer valuation.

The Red Devils are in the market for central-midfield options this summer, as Jose Mourinho attempts to build a squad that can challenge for the Premier League title.

Nemanja Matic is understood to be close to joining from Chelsea, while versatile AS Monaco ace Fabinho has also been tipped to sign, but there could now be a new name on Mourinho's wishlist.

It is claimed by Italian site TuttoMercatoWeb that De Roon, who made 35 appearances for Boro in their disappointing Premier League relegation campaign last time out, is available to purchase for £8.8m - £3m less than the Smoggies paid to land him from Atalanta 13 months ago.

Netherlands international De Roon is apparently also on the radar of Lazio, while Roma and former club Atalanta may also make an approach later in the summer if he remains available.
