A report claims that Wayne Rooney is ready to stay at Manchester United until the end of the 2018-19 campaign, rather than seek a move this summer.

Wayne Rooney is reportedly ready to stay at Manchester United until the end of the 2018-19 campaign.

The 31-year-old has been strongly linked with a move away from Old Trafford this summer after struggling for first-team football under Jose Mourinho during the 2016-17 season.

It had been suggested that the Red Devils captain would seek pastures new, although talk of interest from former club Everton has quietened, and it is understood that the forward is unsure of moving to the Chinese Super League.

According to The Sun, Rooney is currently in no rush to leave the Theatre of Dreams, and could trigger a 12-month extension on his £300,000-a-week salary, which would see the Englishman contracted to Man United until the summer of 2019.

The report claims that Man United are prepared to offer Rooney a £10m goodbye present this summer, although the former Everton youngster is aware that he could triple that bonus by sitting tight at Old Trafford.

Rooney, who is Man United's all-time leading scorer with 253 goals, scored five times in 25 Premier League appearances during the 2016-17 season.
