Chelsea are reportedly in talks with former Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino over the manager position at Stamford Bridge ahead of next season.

Chelsea have reportedly held talks with former Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino over becoming the next permanent manager at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues have sacked both Thomas Tuchel and Graham Potter during a difficult campaign for the club, with club legend Frank Lampard in charge of the squad on an interim basis until the end of the season.

Lampard's side crashed out of the Champions League on Tuesday night after losing 2-0 in the second leg of their last-eight tie against Real Madrid, whilst in the Premier League the West Londoners are languishing in 11th.

According to Sky Sports News, Chelsea have held initial talks with Pochettino over taking the reins next season, with the Argentinian one of five managerial targets on the club's shortlist.

It is understood the Blues enquired about the availability of the 51-year-old following the departure of Tuchel last year, although Pochettino is said to be taking his time in deciding his next venture in management.

Chelsea return to Premier League action on Wednesday night against Brentford, with Lampard's charges having the opportunity to move within one point of their London rivals with a win at Stamford Bridge.
