Unai Emery "happy" with Spartak Moscow win against Benfica

Unai Emery claims that Spartak Moscow deservedly defeated Benfica in the Champions League on Tuesday.

Spartak Moscow coach Unai Emery has expressed his delight at his side's victory over Benfica in the Champions League on Tuesday.

Goals from Rafael Carioca and Jardel saw the Russian outfit defeat the Portuguese club 2-1 at Stadion Luzhniki in Group G.

"Of course, I am happy with the result," he said. "I have to underline that we controlled the match almost throughout the contest, from the first minute.

"We were really good on the ball today. Not only did we score twice, we were really intense in attack and defence.

"We didn't allow Benfica to do that much, so we are happy with the result and our display."

Spartak are now third in the group with three points from as many matches.
