A report in Portugal claims that discussions between Manchester United and Benfica over the transfer of Renato Sanches have reached an advanced stage.

Benfica president Luis Felipe Vieira has reportedly spent the last two days in England to negotiate the transfer of Renato Sanches.

The 18-year-old midfielder has been strongly linked with a summer switch to Manchester United, with a £45m bid said to be in the offing.

According to O Jogo, Vieira's presence in Manchester has indicated that the deal is drawing closer to completion.

The report adds that a series of meetings have taken place involving Vieira, the player's agent Jorge Mendes and United vice-chairman Ed Woodward.

Sanches has found the net twice from his 28 outings this season.
