Manchester United youngster RoShaun Williams vows to "work hard" in a bid to make his first-team debut for the Red Devils during the 2016-17 campaign.

Manchester United youngster RoShaun Williams has insisted that he will "work hard" in a bid to make his first-team debut for the Red Devils during the 2016-17 campaign.

The 18-year-old impressed for Man United's Under-21s team last season and was named on the bench for first-team matches against West Ham United and Liverpool.

Former boss Louis van Gaal handed a number of youngsters their debuts during the 2015-16 season, and Williams is hopeful that he can make an impression on new manager Jose Mourinho.

"My aim is just to work hard and play for the Under-21s. Hopefully, I'll have a solid season and see if I can push for the first team. I took in a lot of good experiences over the course of the season and can hopefully build on them next term," Williams told the club's official website.

"It is just about keeping your head down. Hopefully, it is then a case of getting my opportunity and taking it. I was on the bench against West Ham first and it was just a great feeling.

"I was very happy. It was just a case of the atmosphere being different. You hear the crowd on the TV and when you're in the stadium but you can't really appreciate it. When you're involved, the atmosphere just feels clearer and better."

Williams came through the same junior side - Fletcher Moss Rangers - as the likes of Jesse Lingard, Cameron Borthwick-Jackson and Marcus Rashford.

Jose Mourinho the manager of Chelsea looks on during the Capital One Cup fourth round match between Stoke City and Chelsea at the Britannia Stadium on October 27, 2015 in Stoke on Trent, England.
