Everton reportedly deny claims that a deal has been reached for Ronald Koeman to leave Southampton and become the Toffees' new manager.

Everton have reportedly denied claims that an agreement has been reached to appoint Southampton boss Ronald Koeman as their new manager.

It was claimed by BBC Sport that both clubs have agreed a £5m compensation package, which would allow Koeman to complete his switch to Goodison Park.

However, an Everton spokesman has told the Liverpool Echo that news of a deal is premature.

The Merseyside outfit are said to have placed Koeman at the top of their wishlist following the departure of Roberto Martinez in May.

The Dutchman is expected to sign a three-year contract, and be joined by his brother Erwin and fitness coach Jan Kluitenberg.
