Former England and Aston Villa striker Jackie Sewell has died at the age of 89.

Sewell began his career at Notts County, scoring 97 goals in 178 league appearances before moving to Sheffield Wednesday for a then-record fee of £34,500 in March 1951.

Spells at Villa and Hull City followed, before he ended his playing career in Zambia with City of Lusaka FC in 1965.

During his time in an England shirt, Sewell scored three times in six appearances, including a goal in the so-called 'match of the century' against Hungary at Wembley in November 1953.

Sewell is also one of a handful of footballers to have played for two countries, having captained the newly-independent country of Zambia in 1964.
