Wayne Rooney is reportedly happy with his situation at Manchester United and has no immediate plans to leave.

Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney reportedly has no plans to leave the club in the near future and will stay at Old Trafford until at least summer 2018.

The 30-year-old was dropped from the starting lineup by manager Jose Mourinho for Saturday's clash with Leicester City, prompting speculation that Rooney's 12-year tenure with United could be coming to an end.

Mourinho has insisted that the decision was purely a tactical one, with the ensuing 4-1 victory seemingly vindicating his plan.

According to The Express, Rooney "accepts" that he is no longer an automatic choice in the starting XI and is comfortable with being rotated in and out of the squad, while both Rooney and Mourinho both believe that he still "has a big contribution to make".

Rooney is expected to be back in the fold on Thursday as United welcome Ukrainian outfit Zorya Luhansk to Old Trafford in the Europa League.
