Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino insists that he is "happy" with Vincent Janssen's start at the club, but acknowledges that he needs to open his league account.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has insisted that he is "happy" with the start summer signing Vincent Janssen has made at the club.

The 22-year-old scored 27 league goals in the Eredivisie for AZ Alkmaar last season, but has so far failed to open his account in six Premier League appearances.

Pochettino acknowledged that Janssen needs to get off the mark, but claimed that it is unfair to compare his record in Holland to his early Spurs form.

"We cannot compare him with his former club in Holland. The Premier League is tough, different to the Dutch league, we are happy in the way he's working," he told reporters.

"It's true he needs to score. It happened with Harry Kane - he needs to be patient, work, adapt his quality to new club, a new league. It's always difficult and we're happy."

Janssen is expected to lead the line for Spurs once again when they take on Manchester City on Sunday.
