Aston Villa reportedly hold an interest in Benfica defender Victor Lindelof, who was said to be a transfer target for Chelsea earlier this summer.

Benfica defender Victor Lindelof has reportedly emerged as a target for Aston Villa.

Earlier this summer, it was suggested that Chelsea were keen to sign the 22-year-old but with the Blues opting to look elsewhere, it has left the Swedish international potentially available in January.

According to Portuguese newspaper A Bola, Villa are keen to bring the defender to the West Midlands, despite alleged interest from bigger clubs.

After their relegation from the Premier League, Villa have endured a poor start to the season and they currently sit in 18th place in the Championship standings.
