Chelsea forward Romelu Lukaku issues public apology after interview comments

Chelsea forward Romelu Lukaku issues a public apology for the "upset that he has caused" by suggesting that he wanted to return to Inter Milan.

Chelsea forward Romelu Lukaku has publicly apologised for the "upset that he caused" by suggesting that he was unhappy at Stamford Bridge.

Last Thursday, the £97.5m summer signing insinuated that he wanted to secure a return to Inter Milan in the near future, claiming that he was unhappy with 'his current situation' at Chelsea.

Blues head coach Thomas Tuchel dropped Lukaku from his squad for Sunday's Premier League fixture with Liverpool, before stating on Tuesday that the 28-year-old had returned to the group ahead of Wednesday's EFL Cup tie with Tottenham Hotspur.

In his pre-match press conference, Tuchel revealed that the Belgian had apologised for the interview given to Sky Sport Italia and was determined to 'clean the mess up'.

Six hours later on Tuesday evening, Chelsea have now posted a 41-second video where Lukaku says sorry for his comments and expresses a desire to prove his commitment to the West London club.

Lukaku is expected to play some part of the clash with Chelsea's London rivals on Wednesday night.
