Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths says that he will work hard to impress new manager Brendan Rodgers, despite his 40-goal return this season.

Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths has suggested that he will not take it for granted that he features in Brendan Rodgers's plans for next season.

Griffiths scored 40 goals in all competitions last season to take his tally for the Scottish giants to 67 goals in 106 appearances, but the forward has insisted that he must continue to work hard to impress the club's new manager.

The 25-year-old is quoted by BBC Sport as saying: "Different managers have different opinions. The new manager will have his own philosophy and bring in new players but hopefully I'm in there."

"If not I'll keep working behind the scenes and when I get the chance I'll try and take it"

Griffiths has been with Celtic since signing from Wolverhampton Wanderers in January 2014.
