Brazil dismiss manager Dunga following Copa America first-round exit

Brazil sack manager Dunga following the Selecao's first-round exit from the Copa America.

Brazil have sacked manager Dunga following the Selecao's first-round exit from the Copa America.

The Brazil Football Confederation (CBF) confirmed on Tuesday that the 52-year-old had been dismissed after less than two years in the job.

Brazil, five-time World Cup winners, began their Copa America Centenario campaign with a goalless draw against Ecuador before securing a 7-1 victory over Haiti.

In their final group game against Peru, however, Brazil were defeated 1-0 thanks in part to an apparent handball goal from Raul Ruidiaz, knocking them into third place and out of the competition.

Dunga, who captained Brazil to the 1994 World Cup in the USA, was in his second spell as head coach, having spent four years in charge between 2006 and 2010.
