Scottish Cup holders Rangers have been drawn against Old Firm rivals Celtic in the semi-finals, while League One outfit Falkirk will face Championship side Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

The Gers booked their place in the last four after cruising to a comfortable 3-0 victory against second-tier side Raith Rovers at Ibrox on Sunday, with Connor Goldson and Scott Arfield both on the scoresheet either side of a Ryan Nelson own goal.

Celtic also ran out 3-0 winners in their quarter-final tie away against last season's losing finalists Hearts 24 hours earlier, with Aaron Mooy, Kyogo Furuhashi and Cameron Carter-Vickers all finding the net to help the Hoops secure a semi-final spot for the eighth time in the last nine seasons.

Rangers and Celtic will now renew acquaintances at Hampden Park for the second time this season, with Michael Beale's side seeking revenge after losing 2-1 to Ange Postecoglou's men in the semi-finals of the Scottish League Cup last month.

An Old Firm semi-final contest means that the 21-year wait for a Scottish Cup final showdown between the two Glaswegian giants goes on.

Meanwhile, Falkirk have progressed to the Scottish Cup semi-finals for the first time in eight years after coming from behind to beat Ayr United 2-1 on home soil on Monday night, with Callumn Morrison's 66th-minute equaliser from the penalty spot followed by an 83rd-minute winner from substitute Kai Kennedy.

The Bairns will now prepare for a last-four tie at Hampden against second-tier outfit Inverness, who also came from behind to beat Kilmarnock 2-1 at home on Saturday courtesy of goals either side of half time from Billy Mckay and Sean Welsh.

The semi-finals ties are scheduled to take place on April 29 and 30, with the winners booking their place in the final on June 3.
