Dominic Solanke, Philip Billing and Marcos Senesi score the goals as Bournemouth record a 3-0 win over Manchester United at Old Trafford in the Premier League.

Dominic Solanke, Philip Billing and Marcos Senesi scored the goals as Bournemouth recorded a 3-0 win over Manchester United at Old Trafford in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.

The victory is Bournemouth's first over Man United away from home in their history, and it has moved them into 13th position in the table, now on 19 points from 16 matches.

The Red Devils remain sixth, three points behind fourth-placed Manchester City, but they have now lost seven times in England's top flight this season, and it is not exactly ideal preparation for their must-win Champions League contest with Bayern Munich next week.

VAR had a look at a possible Bournemouth penalty in the first minute of the match when Solanke went down inside the box under a challenge from Man United goalkeeper Andre Onana, but it was quickly cleared.

Man United were straight down the other end and had a half-chance through Sergio Reguilon, but the left-back's goal-bound effort was blocked.

Bournemouth managed to make the breakthrough in the fifth minute of the match, with Solanke turning a low Lewis Cook cross into the back of the net following some lacklustre defending from the home side.

Harry Maguire had a header tipped over the crossbar by Bournemouth goalkeeper Neto in the eighth minute, with the home side responding impressively to the early setback at Old Trafford.

Onana had to make a save to keep out a strike from Marcus Tavernier in the 16th minute, with Bournemouth looking dangerous on the break, but Man United were the team in control of the possession.

The Cherries again had the ball in the back of the net in the 24th minute through Tavernier, who converted after Onana had kept out Solanke's header, but the offside flag was raised for the first action.

Diogo Dalot had to clear a header from Ilya Zabarnyi off the line in the 28th minute, before Tavernier struck over from distance in the 35th minute, with the Cherries threatening to double their advantage at Old Trafford.

Martial had a low strike saved by Neto in the 36th minute, before Solanke came incredibly close to a second down the other end, with the striker hitting the post from inside the box.

Excellent defending from Maguire prevented Solanke from having another shot on goal in first-half stoppage time, but the visitors did enter the half-time interval with a one-goal lead, leaving Erik ten Hag with much to ponder ahead of a huge second 45 minutes of action.

Bruno Fernandes had a powerful shot deflected just wide of the post early in the second half, before a header from Maguire inside the Bournemouth box caused a big problem for the visitors, but the danger was cleared.

Rasmus Hojlund was introduced for Martial in the 56th minute of the contest, and the Denmark international was immediately involved, coming close to meeting a cross from Alejandro Garnacho.

Solanke again came close on the hour, just failing to meet a dangerous low cross from Billing, with the forward looking capable of scoring every time Bournemouth were in Man United's half of the field.

Neto kept out a header from McTominay in the 61st minute, but Bournemouth continued to look a threat on the break, and the visitors still had their lead entering the final 25 minutes of action.

Dalot should have done much better after being released by Antony inside the Bournemouth box in the 67th minute, with the defender striking into the side-netting rather than deliver a low cross into Hojlund.

Bournemouth then doubled their lead in the 68th minute, with Billing heading a brilliant delivery from Tavernier into the back of the net after rising highest inside the box.

McTominay turned a low Garnacho cross wide of the post in the 70th minute, but Bournemouth made sure of the points in the 74th minute when Senesi headed a corner into the back of the net.

Dango Ouattara thought that he had made it 4-0 in stoppage time, conventing from close range after more dire defending from the hosts, but the goal was disallowed for offside.

Man United will head to Anfield to face Liverpool next Sunday without their captain Fernandes due to suspension, while Bournemouth will be aiming to continue their excellent form when they welcome Luton Town to the Vitality Stadium next Saturday.
