Manchester City reportedly tell Erling Braut Haaland that he could join Real Madrid later in his career if he agrees to move to the Etihad Stadium this summer.

Manchester City have reportedly told Erling Braut Haaland that he could join Real Madrid later in his career if he agrees to move to the Etihad Stadium this summer.

The 21-year-old striker is expected to leave Borussia Dortmund, with the Citizens thought to be leading the race for his signature ahead of Spanish giants Real Madrid.

City are understood to have agreed to pay Haaland in excess of £500,000 per week on a five-year contract, and they are also prepared to activate his £63m release clause.

According to The Times, Haaland has told City that he would prefer to join them this summer, and only 'minor details' need to be addressed before his switch to the Etihad can be finalised.

While Haaland is seemingly willing to commit his future to Pep Guardiola's side, the report adds that City have told the striker that they will not stand in his way if he wishes to join Real Madrid in the future.

Los Blancos are believed to be reluctant to meet Haaland's current wage demands, which has put Man City in the driving seat to land the Norway international this summer.

Haaland scored twice in Dortmund's 6-1 victory over Wolfsburg last weekend, taking his tally across all competitions to 25 goals in 26 appearances this season.
