Real Madrid will refuse to break the bank to sign Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Braut Haaland this summer, according to a report.

Real Madrid will reportedly refuse to break the bank to sign Erling Braut Haaland this summer despite having a keen interest in bringing the Borussia Dortmund forward to Bernabeu.

The Norway international is expected to leave BVB this summer, with a £67m release clause in his contract due to become active, and Manchester City are currently thought to lead the race.

A recent report claimed that the Citizens are prepared to pay him £500,000 a week until June 2027 to move to the Premier League champions this summer.

According to Goal, Real Madrid are keen on the striker, but the club are reluctant to meet his wage demands, as they fear that it could upset the dressing room at the club.

The report claims that the La Liga leaders are also concerned by Haaland's recent injury problems and are not prepared to get caught in another situation similar to the one involving Eden Hazard, who has struggled with a number of fitness issues since arriving in a big-money move from Chelsea.

Haaland has scored 25 times and registered eight assists in 26 appearances for BVB this term, while he has netted 82 goals and provided 23 assists in 85 outings for the club in total since arriving from Red Bull Salzburg in January 2020.

Barcelona have also been credited with an interest in the striker, but the overall cost of the deal could eventually reach £300m with wages and agent fees, potentially ruling the Catalan side out of the race.
