The National League is reportedly preparing to suspend all fixtures across its three divisions amid the coronavirus crisis.

The National League is reportedly poised to announce that all fixtures across its three divisions will be postponed amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Last week the Premier League, EFL and FA confirmed that competitive action had been suspended with immediate effect after Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta tested positive for the disease.

Many games still went ahead in the National League, National League North and National League South over the weekend, however, prompting fierce criticism from managers and players.

Eastleigh boss Ben Strevens said on Saturday: "The reason it went ahead is because whoever sits on the board of the National League just cared about the money. Simple as that.

"They didn't think about the well-being of the spectators and it's not only the supporters: we've got a kitman who is an old boy and there's stewards who are older. They're the ones who are most at risk. There's no way whatsoever these games should have been played."

According to the Evening Standard, the National League held an emergency board meeting this morning and have now decided to put the current season on hold.

The government are expected to officially announce a ban on all "mass gatherings" in the UK later this week.
