Aston Villa midfielder Jordan Veretout reportedly emerges as a loan target for Marseille.

Marseille have reportedly approached Aston Villa with an offer to sign midfielder Jordan Veretout on a season-long loan deal.

Veretout made 21 starts in the Premier League last season as Villa suffered relegation to the Championship and it has been claimed that the West Midlands outfit could be open to letting their £8m signing from last season leave the club.

According to Foot Mercato, Marseille want to sign the 23-year-old on a temporary basis but it has been suggested that Villa will only agree to a deal if the Ligue 1 giants sign Veretout next summer.

Villa are unlikely to recoup the transfer fee that they paid Nantes in 2015 but the temptation to get Veretout's wages off the payroll could prove appealing to the club's hierarchy.
