Paul Broadhurst capitalises on Miguel Angel Jimenez's slack final-round showing at the Senior Open to claim the title.

A final-round collapse by Miguel Angel Jimenez paved the way for Paul Broadhurst to win his first Major title at the Senior Open.

The 50-year-old was four shots behind the leader overnight but was ahead at the 18th when parring for a round of 68.

Jimenez double-bogeyed on the last to fall down to third place behind America's Scott McCarron, who himself led at one stage at Carnoustie but could not quite hold on.

Broadhurst, a winner at the Scottish Senior Open last year, had a previous best Open finish of 12th place in both 1990 and 2007.

Elsewhere, Magnus P Atlevi carded a final-round 67 to join Jimenez in a tie for third, while American quartet Brandt Jobe (66), Tom Byrum (72), Joe Durant (73) and Wes Short JR (73) finished further back.
