Golden Boy Promotions have announced that the WBO super-welterweight title clash between Liam Smith and Saul Alvarez will take place at the AT & T Stadium in Dallas.

Last month, it was announced that Liverpudlian Smith had agreed to travel to the United States to make the third defence of his world crown against Alvarez, one of the world's best pound-for-pound fighters.

It had been stated that a venue would be revealed at a later date but Alvarez's representatives have now said that the showdown will take place at the home of the Dallas Cowboys, with the stadium possessing a capacity of 80,000.

Smith will be hoping to extend his unbeaten record to 25 fights, while Alvarez has won 47 of his 49 outings as a professional with his only defeat coming against Floyd Mayweather Jr.

WBO middleweight champion Billy Joe Saunders is also expected to feature on the card.
