Tottenham Hotspur and Belgium defender Jan Vertonghen admits that he is not looking forward to the prospect of facing clubmate Harry Kane at this summer's World Cup.

Tottenham Hotspur defender Jan Vertonghen has claimed that Harry Kane is "one of the top two strikers" in world football.

Kane has scored 35 goals in just 39 games across all competitions for Spurs this season, already matching last term's career-best tally.

However, Vertonghen will be handed the task of trying to stop his clubmate when his Belgium side take on England at the World Cup on June 28, and the defender admitted that he hopes Gareth Southgate is in a position to rest Kane by the time they meet in their final group game.

"After the Leicester game on the final day of the season I won't see Harry again," Vertonghen told reporters.

"For me, Harry is one of the top two strikers in the world because he has all the ability. You can have a plan against Harry and he will find something. He is a great player and hopefully England and us have already qualified and he gets a rest."

Vertonghen has also revealed that Belgium are aiming to reach at least the semi-finals of the World Cup this summer.
