The Belgium goalkeeper, who completed his move to Los Blancos last Thursday, made a name for himself at the Vicente Calderon, enjoying three fruitful years on loan at the club from Chelsea.
Despite his prior association with Real's cross-city rivals, Ramos insists that "any great player" is open to signing for the Bernabeu outfit despite their past.
"We don't judge a player's past when they join Real Madrid, and we are open to any great player coming to the club," Ramos told Marca. "We won't question his past with Atletico.
"We always try to help players adapt well so that they integrate well into the club, which helps them play better than they have before.
"The goalkeeping position has been in question for a few years, but we have always had a great goalkeeper [in Keylor Navas] and we are making it stronger with Courtois."
Courtois made 154 appearances for Los Colchoneros between 2011 and 2014, keeping 76 clean sheets.
