USA Ryder Cup captain Jim Furyk admits that he is "excited" by the form of Tiger Woods, but refused to indicate whether the 14-time Major winner would receive a wildcard.

USA Ryder Cup captain Jim Furyk has acknowledged that he had been left "excited" by the recent form of Tiger Woods.

The 14-time Major winner finished as runner-up at last week's US PGA Championship, just weeks after he had secured sixth spot at The Open.

Woods - currently one of Furyk's vice-captains - has put himself into contention to receive a wildcard for the event in France, but Furyk has suggested that he currently wishes to focus on the eight mandatory picks which were confirmed on Sunday night.

At a press conference, Furyk told reporters: "He is playing very well. I think that there are probably a lot of folks out there who think he can help us.

"Today, I want to talk about the top eight players, but I realise that Tiger is a story. I realise that he is playing very well and I am excited to see that."

Dustin Johnson, Brooks Koepka, Justin Thomas, Patrick Reed, Bubba Watson, Jordan Spieth, Rickie Fowler and Webb Simpson have all earned their places on the team.
