Middlesbrough defender Ben Gibson signs a new long-term deal at the Riverside Stadium.

Middlesbrough defender Ben Gibson has admitted that he is "over the moon" to have committed his future to the North-East club.

Gibson started his career at the Riverside Stadium and after helping the club to promotion last season, he has been awarded a five-year contract.

The 23-year-old told the club's official website: "I'm over the moon. I just want to make sure the next five years are in the Premier League with this club.

"It's a dream come true for me really and it's amazing for me and my family. It's an exciting time, and we're all looking forward to Sunday's game at Sunderland and hopefully picking up our first Premier League win."

Gibson has made a total of 113 appearances for Middlesbrough since making his debut in April 2011.
