Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp suggests that the final week of the transfer window will be focused on outgoings rather than new arrivals.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has suggested that the final week of the transfer window will be focused mainly on trimming his squad.

The Reds have already sold 12 players for a combined fee of more than £70m this summer, but the likes of Mario Balotelli and Lazar Markovic are still on the books at Anfield.

Both players are expected to leave before next Wednesday's transfer deadline, though, as Klopp looks to adapt to the decreased workload on his side due to their lack of European football this season.

"You have to make decisions about your squad. Building an ideal squad is where everyone has the perspective to play," he told reporters.

"You need to have these players who are convinced they have to start and have to be angry when they don't start. We don't have 60-something games and to have a good atmosphere all players need to see their perspective and that is what we are working for.

"There is no reason at this moment to think about what could happen if we have too big a squad because we are working on this side but I cannot say anything about it until September 1."

Both Balotelli and Markovic spent last season on loan at AC Milan and Fenerbahce respectively.
