Wolverhampton Wanderers have reportedly found themselves linked to the email scandal surrounding US Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.
According to the Birmingham Mail, Clinton has been accused of trying to get a visa for then-Wolves striker Sylvan Ebanks-Blake during the club's "celebration break" to Las Vegas in May 2009.
Ebanks-Blake's agent Paul Martin had "hit some road blocks" in securing a visa for the player, who has been charged with assaulting a bouncer at a Plymouth nightclub two years earlier, and allegedly got in touch with Doug Martin, one of Clinton's senior advisors, to help.
Around 30,000 of Clinton's emails - sent via a private email server instead of the official government servers - are currently under investigation by the US State Department.
In a statement, watchdog 'Judicial Watch' said: "We have released 725 pages of new State Department documents, including email exchanges in which former Hillary Clinton's top aide Huma Abedin provided influential Clinton Foundation donors with special, expedited access to the secretary of state. In many instances, the preferential treatment provided to donors was at the specific request of Clinton Foundation executive Douglas Band.
"Also included among the emails is an exchange in which Band urged Abedin to get the Clinton State Department to intervene to obtain a visa for members of the Wolverhampton (UK) Football Club, one of whose members was apparently having difficulty because of a 'criminal charge'."
Ebanks-Blake, now at League One side Chesterfield, spent five years at Molineux, scoring 61 goals in 177 league appearances.
