A report claims that Paul Pogba has been made the subject of a bid by former club Manchester United, who are desperate to re-sign the Juventus midfield ace.

Manchester United have made an offer to re-sign Paul Pogba from Juventus, according to a friend of the player's agent Jorge Mendes.

The Red Devils have been heavily linked with a move for their former midfield starlet, who departed the club in 2012 when contract negotiations broke down.

Pogba shares an agent with rumoured incoming United boss Jose Mourinho, and a mutual associate - Duncan Castles - claims that the Premier League outfit have now taken the first step to bringing the Frenchman back.

Castles, a respected journalist, also suggests that Juventus would be open to cashing in on one of their star players despite issuing a hands-off warning to potential suitors just last month.

Writing for One World Sports, Castles said: "Pogba is understood to have two firm offers - one is from Manchester United, who despite missing out on Champions League qualification for the second time in three years remain obsessed with the idea of bringing an elite player to Old Trafford.

"The other is PSG, whose ownership by Qatar provides them with the finances to try and tempt Pogba to commit himself to Ligue 1 football."

Italian champions Juve value Pogba at around £62m, having reportedly agreed that price with Barcelona last summer before the Catalan club's priorities turned elsewhere.
