Barcelona could reportedly offload as many as five first-team players during the summer transfer window.

The Catalan giants are soon expected to begin the process of searching for a new manager, after current boss Xavi announced a fortnight ago that he will be stepping down from his post at the end of the season.

While Xavi is focused on ending his spell in the Camp Nou dugout on a high as he endeavours to deliver Champions League football for next season, speculation over his successor is rife.

Outgoing Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta and former Germany head coach Hansi Flick have all been tipped to potentially replace Xavi.

There is also uncertainty regarding the future of a number of senior stars at Barcelona, and Fichajes claims that as many as five players could depart during a 'hectic' summer transfer window for the club.

The reports suggests that Sergi Roberto and Marcos Alonso are the most likely duo to seek pastures new this summer, as there has been no indication that Barca are willing to renew their contracts, which expire in June.

Roberto has spent his entire senior career at Barcelona and has made 363 appearances for the club across all competitions since his debut back in 2010.

However, the versatile midfielder has struggled with injuries in recent seasons and has only started eight games for the Catalan giants in all tournaments so far this term.

Alonso, meanwhile, joined Barca in the summer of 2022 and featured regularly as either a left-back or centre-back in his first season under Xavi, making 37 appearances.

The 33-year-old has since struggled for regular game time this season, though, and has been reduced to just four starts and three substitute outings in all competitions.

Oriol Romeu is another player facing an uncertain future at Barcelona, just eight months after joining the club from Girona for around £3.4m.

The defensive midfielder has played 24 times for the La Liga champions this season, including 16 starts, but it is understood that Barca chiefs are prepared to part ways with the Spaniard this summer.

In a bid to balance their books and ease their well-documented financial troubles, Barcelona may also look to recoup substantial fees from the sale of first-team players including Raphinha and Andreas Christensen.

Raphinha has contributed with 14 goals and 19 assists in 70 games for Barcelona since joining from Leeds United in the summer of 2022, but the winger has been strongly linked with a big-money return to the Premier League.

Indeed, the Brazil international has allegedly attracted interest from London duo Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur, while Liverpool are believed to have identified the 27-year-old as a possible replacement for Mohamed Salah.

As for Christensen, who moved to Camp Nou on a free transfer in the same window as Raphinha, the defender has largely impressed under Xavi this season and has started 24 of his 26 appearances in all tournaments.

However, Barca are said to be aware that the Denmark international's performances have alerted a number of clubs, with Manchester United and Spurs believed to be among those monitoring his progress.

In addition, it is claimed that the possibility of either Frenkie de Jong or Ronald Araujo leaving Barcelona cannot be ruled out, although the club are keen to keep hold of the duo this summer.
