Phil Jones is named in the Manchester United team for Tuesday's Premier League clash with Liverpool.

Phil Jones has been named in the Manchester United XI for Tuesday's Premier League clash with Liverpool.

The 30-year-old has only featured once for the Red Devils in the league this term but has been drafted into the defence for the clash with Jurgen Klopp's side at Anfield.

Jones was strongly linked with a move away from the 20-time English champions in January but remained at Old Trafford and will seemingly play in a back three for the away team on Merseyside.

Cristiano Ronaldo misses tonight's match for personal reasons, with the Portugal international announcing on Monday that his newborn son had passed away.

Meanwhile, Edinson Cavani, Fred, Raphael Varane and Luke Shaw are out through injury, and Mason Greenwood remains unavailable due to a club suspension, but Scott McTominay is back on the bench.

Diogo Dalot will seemingly play as the left-sided wing-back, with Nemanja Matic, Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes set to operate in midfield.

Meanwhile, Marcus Rashford and Anthony Elanga are expected to play as a front two for the visitors, with Jadon Sancho, somewhat surprisingly, left on the bench at Anfield.

MANCHESTER UNITED: De Gea; Wan Bissaka, Lindelof, Maguire, Jones, Dalot; Matic, Pogba, Fernandes; Rashford, Elanga
