Manchester United's Antony details the role that teammate Cristiano Ronaldo has played in him settling into life at Old Trafford following a summer move from Ajax.

Manchester United attacker Antony has opened up on the role that Cristiano Ronaldo has played in him settling into life at Old Trafford.

The 22-year-old joined the 20-time English champions in an £85m deal from Ajax in the latter stages of the summer transfer window.

Antony has impressed during his early career at Man United, finding the back of the net in each of his three Premier League appearances against Arsenal, Manchester City and Everton.

The Brazil international has also played three times in the Europa League for the Red Devils, helping Erik ten Hag's side overcome Sheriff Tiraspol and Omonia in their last two games.

Antony has detailed the importance of Ronaldo to his transition, claiming that the Portugal international has played a key role since his arrival.

"Since I arrived here, Cristiano Ronaldo has really helped me feel at ease; he speaks to me a lot, on matchdays as well," Antony told Man United's official website.

"He always tells me to be calm and confident, he's achieved so much in football and I learn from him every day. I'm really grateful to have such an experienced person teaching us young players every day.

"His mentality (has impressed him the most), it's so strong. He's very intelligent. This mentality of his, looking to the next day, everything still to play for, it's what I'm trying to take on board and keep for the rest of my life."

There remains speculation surrounding Ronaldo's future at Old Trafford, with the Portugal international's contract set to expire next June, but the 37-year-old netted his first Premier League goal of the campaign in last weekend's 2-1 victory at Everton.

The strike was Ronaldo's 700th in club football, and he will be looking to add to his tally when Omonia visit Old Trafford in the Europa League on Thursday night.

Ronaldo has started all three of Man United's European matches this season, scoring against Sheriff Tiraspol on September 15 before providing an assist in the 3-2 success over Omonia last time out.

The 20-time English champions are currently second in Group E, boasting six points from their three matches, three points behind leaders Real Sociedad, who beat them 1-0 at Old Trafford last month.

Man United are sixth in the Premier League table, meanwhile, and they will welcome Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur in their next two domestic fixtures on October 16 and October 19 respectively.

A busy month will also see Ten Hag's side take on Chelsea, Sheriff and West Ham United, with the fixtures being packed in due to the campaign breaking in November for the World Cup.
