Anthony Martial will miss Manchester United's Europa League clash with Omonia on Thursday due to a back issue.

Manchester United head coach Erik ten Hag has revealed that Anthony Martial will be absent for Thursday's Europa League contest with Omonia.

The France international came off the bench to score in his side's 3-2 victory over Omonia in Cyprus last week before being named in the starting XI against Everton on Sunday night.

Martial provided the assist for Antony to level the scores at Goodison Park, but he had to be replaced in the first half of the contest due to a back problem.

Ten Hag has revealed that the attacker missed training on Wednesday and will not be involved against Omonia, but he could potentially be available for selection against Newcastle United on Sunday.

Harry Maguire is also still out with a hamstring problem, while Donny van de Beek and Aaron Wan-Bissaka remain unavailable for selection.

"Not today [Martial training], we will see how it develops for Sunday. Harry is out. And longer-term Donny van de Beek and Aaron Wan-Bissaka," Ten Hag told reporters.

"Of course, I want him [Martial] in, sometimes it's disappointing when they aren't available because I know we need him. When they aren't, you have to deal with the situation."

The Dutchman was asked about potentially rotating his squad on Thursday ahead of the game with Newcastle, but he was keen to stress the importance of winning the group.

"All out for the victory, first game is the most important, It's Europe, it's tough, we want to be number one in the group," said Ten Hag.

"I told the players weeks ago, before the break, it was important to win the group. We want to win all the games, but it's clear, we want to avoid that [finishing second in group]."

The 20-time English champions are currently second in Group E, three points behind leaders Real Sociedad, who have a perfect record from their three matches.

A victory on Thursday would put Ten Hag's side in a strong position in terms of reaching the next round of the competition, but they will more than likely have to beat Real Sociedad in Spain at the start of November to stand a chance of finishing as section winners.

Man United still have another six matches to come in October, facing Omonia and Sheriff Tiraspol in the Europa League, in addition to league games with Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea and West Ham United.

Martial's absence could see Cristiano Ronaldo come into the starting XI on Thursday, with the Portugal international scoring his 700th club goal off the bench in the win at Everton.
