Reports from Mexico claim that Liverpool are close to signing Porto midfielder Hector Herrera, despite strong interest from Napoli.

Liverpool are reportedly closing in on a move for Porto midfielder Hector Herrera.

The 26-year-old has been strongly linked with a move to Napoli over the last couple of weeks, but it is understood that Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has hijacked the deal.

According to reports in Mexico, Herrera, who is currently with the Mexican national team at the Copa America, is now just 'one step away' from joining the Premier League club.

The central midfielder joined Porto from Pachuca in 2013 and has made more than 100 appearances for the Portuguese club in all competitions.
