Wayne Rooney's testimonial match between Manchester United and Everton will make history as it becomes the first game to be streamed live on Facebook.

Wayne Rooney's testimonial at Old Trafford tonight will make history as the match between Manchester United and Everton will be streamed live on Facebook for the first time.

The social networking website reaches 1.7billion users worldwide, and today's game will be shown live via Rooney's and United's official pages.

The England captain, who came through Everton's ranks before joining United in 2004, will distribute all money raised from the event between four charities.

The Red Devils' summer signings Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Eric Bailly and Henrikh Mkhitaryan are expected to play in this evening's match, which kicks off at 8pm.

It will be the first time that a contest between two Premier League clubs has been shown on Facebook Live.
