Jurgen Klopp wants FC Koln star Jonas Hector to help fill Liverpool's troublesome right-back position, according to a report.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp will reportedly make a bid to sign Jonas Hector from FC Koln as he steps up his hunt for a new left-back.

The Reds will head into the new campaign with Alberto Moreno in that troublesome position as things stand, although questions remain over the Spaniard following a string of disappointing performances last season.

According to the Daily Mail, Hector has been targeted as the man to fill the void in a defence that leaked 50 goals in the Premier League alone last season.

Having recorded the most crosses blocked in the German top flight last season, while also keeping his cool to score a vital quarter-final shootout penalty for Germany against Italy at Euro 2016, the 26-year-old's valuation has substantially risen.

It is claimed that Liverpool will need to bid £20m to have any shot of landing their man, with Barcelona also rumoured to have shown an interest in recent weeks.
