Mauro Icardi 'cannot promise' Inter Milan retirement

Mauro Icardi admits that he 'cannot promise' that he will retire at Inter Milan, just days after signing a new long-term deal at San Siro.

Mauro Icardi has said that while his "desire" is to remain at Inter Milan for the remainder of his career, the Argentine international 'cannot promise' that will be the case.

On Friday, it was confirmed that the 23-year-old had signed a new long-term contract with Inter, which will run until the summer of 2021.

Icardi, who has been at San Siro since the summer of 2013, has revealed that he would like to end his career with the Serie A giants, although he cannot predict what will happen in the future.

"I can't promise that I will stay for life at Inter, in football you never know. But my desire is to do it, like Zanetti did at Inter, Totti at Roma and Maldini at Milan," he told Sky Sports News. "The people will always laud you for this and I would like to do it."

Icardi has scored six times in nine appearances for Inter this season.
