Sports Mole looks at which teams West Ham United and Rangers could be drawn against in the quarter-finals of the Europa League.

West Ham United and Rangers will be flying the flag for the United Kingdom when they compete in the Europa League quarter-finals in April.

The Hammers secured an impressive 2-1 aggregate victory over six-time champions Sevilla, with Ukrainian winger Andriy Yarmolenko scoring the decisive goal in extra time to help David Moyes' men win 2-0 in the second leg at the London Stadium.

As for Rangers, they managed to progress 4-2 on aggregate against Red Star Belgrade, despite losing the second leg 2-1 in Serbia.

West Ham and Rangers are two of eight teams who will now be in the hat for Friday's draw, and there is a possibility that a 'Battle of Britain' between both sides could take place in the last eight.

Arguably the strongest team in the quarter-final draw are La Liga giants Barcelona, a European heavyweight who Rangers boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst will be familiar with, having played over 150 times for them between 2004 and 2007 – the Hammers, meanwhile have never faced Barca in a competitive match.

Van Bronckhorst and co will also be familiar with Lyon, who they played against twice in this year's group stage – losing and drawing one game each – and the French outfit are another team who Rangers or West Ham could face in the last eight.

A trip to Italy or Portugal could be on the cards as Atalanta BC and Braga are two more teams in the quarter-final draw, the former beating Bayer Leverkusen 4-2 on aggregate while the latter secured a 3-1 aggregate victory over Monaco.

West Ham's hopes of a reunion with Manuel Pellegrini were ended when Real Betis suffered a 3-2 aggregate defeat against Eintracht Frankfurt, the Bundesliga side progressing to the last eight in dramatic fashion thanks to a last-minute own goal in extra time from Guido Rodriguez.

Another German opponent who Rangers and West Ham could face are RB Leipzig who were handed a bye to the last eight following Spartak Moscow's expulsion from the competition amid Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

The quarter-final draw will take place at UEFA's Nyon headquarters at 12am GMT on Friday, March 18.

Once the quarter-final draw has concluded, teams will then discover their paths for the semi-finals, meaning tomorrow's draw will be the last of this season's competition.

The first legs of the quarter-final ties are scheduled to take place on April 7, with the return fixtures a week later on April 14.
