Dutch goalkeeper Guy Smit has joined Arsenal on a two-week trial.

The 20-year-old is available on a free transfer after running down his contract at Eredivisie side NEC Nijmegen and it is understood that a number of English clubs are interested in the stopper.

Arsenal have handed the youngster the chance to impress on a trial basis, however, and The Mirror quotes Smit as saying: "This opportunity I have to seize."

Petr Cech will remain Arsenal's number one goalkeeper next season, but the futures of both David Ospina and Wojciech Szczesny are undecided ahead of the 2016-17 campaign.
