Jos Buttler is expected to remain sidelined for England's Test series with Pakistan after sustaining a fractured thumb on Friday night.

The ECB has announced that Jos Buttler has been sidelined for the foreseeable future with a fractured thumb.

Buttler had been overlooked for the first Test match with Pakistan but it appears that he must now focus his efforts on regaining full fitness for the limited-overs games later in the summer after sustaining the injury in a T20 Blast fixture for Lancashire on Friday night.

A statement read: "Lancashire and England's Jos Buttler received a blow to his left thumb during Friday night's NatWest T20 Blast match against Worcestershire Rapids at New Road.

"X-rays later revealed he sustained a small stable fracture which will be managed conservatively."

Despite the injury, Buttler still contributed a 20-ball half-century to help his side to victory.
