Arsenal are reportedly contemplating whether to make an approach for Wolverhampton Wanderers Pedro Neto during the summer transfer window.

Arsenal have reportedly identified Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Pedro Neto as a potential transfer target for the summer.

With the Gunners enjoying one of the best campaigns for two decades and scoring goals with regularity, Mikel Arteta has been left happy with his attacking options during 2022-23.

However, that may change ahead of next season with at least two squad players not guaranteed to be part of his first-team squad going forward.

Reiss Nelson is out of contract at the end of the season and a lack of game time may lead to the former England Under-21 international taking an opportunity elsewhere.

Meanwhile, Emile Smith Rowe is being linked with other clubs at a time when he has missed the majority of the season through injury and fallen down the pecking order.

While there is more chance of the latter remaining at the Emirates Stadium than the former, Arteta is still in a position where he must prepare for Champions League football by strengthening his squad in terms of numbers and quality.

According to Football Transfers, the North Londoners are open to making a fresh bid to sign Neto.

Arsenal have been linked with the Portugal international in the past without coming close to getting a deal over the line due to a combination of injuries and price tag.

The situation may theoretically change, though, with Neto having struggled for game time since returning to fitness after an ankle injury earlier this year.

Neto has not played more than 45 minutes in any Premier League fixture since September, while he has been provided with just 16 minutes since the March international break.

In total this season, Neto has 11 starts and four substitute outings under his belt, but the 23-year-old has not contributed a goal or assist.

Although Neto is tied to Molineux until 2027, he is no longer viewed as one of the club's key players, and Arsenal seemingly hope that Wolves may be open to a sale for a lower fee than in the past.

Even in the event of remaining in the Premier League, Wolves will likely have to make a major sale this summer in order to balance out the £73m that they shelled out in January.

Ruben Neves and Matheus Nunes are allegedly more likely to be sold than Neto, but the playmaker represents an alternative for the board ahead of 2023-24.
